F/5.6

Aperture: a hole in the lens which controls the amount of light let in.

Overexpose: to much light.

Underexpose: to little light.

When the aperture is changed in photos it can effect how much light is let into the picture, this can make a picture look lighter or darker. When the number is higher it has a smaller hole, and when the number is smaller it has a bigger hole.

Depth of Field

F/5.6

F/22

Depth of Field: is a measure of how much an image will be in focus. The illusion of depth is created in the photograph.

Shallow Depth of Field: less of an image is in focus.

Deep Depth of Field: more of an image is in focus.

When the aperture in the photo gets lower, the background blurs more, compared to when the aperture is higher.

Shutter speed

Shutter speed: A setting on your camera which controls the length of time the shutter is open. It is measured in seconds. When the shutter speed is higher it is easier to freeze fast objects in pictures. When the speed is lower you can blur slow moving objects like water.
